Janus Syndicate @ Fortune City
Welcome to the Janus Syndicate @ Fortune City.  First, if you are here, searching for my Janus Gateway pavilion at Delphi, click on the hyperlinks below to go to the various chapters of the Janus Syndicate.
Janus Syndicate @ Fortune City (you are here)
Janus Gateway Homepage @ Delphi
Janus Gateway Kiosk @ Delphi
Janus Syndicate @ GeoCities (original Chapter)
Now, if you're still with me, and not interested in visiting my bullitin board or my chat rooms at Delphi, you're obviously here for a practical purpose.  I'll bet you're here because I told you about it or you heard references to this site.  Now, I guess I'd better cut to the chase and get down to business.  The Janus Syndicate is largely devoted to links to sites that I think are the most useful on the web for getting where you're going.
What are you here to do?
Find information
Find software
Find internet related stuff
Find cheat codes
Find Janus' Links

Information Searches
If you're here, you're looking for information or just browsing the Janus Syndicate web page.  I've listed off the web search engines in my personal order of preference.  They will have Js beside there name, with ratings from 1 J (the lowest) to 5 Js (the highest).  If you have other search engines to bring to my attention, e-mail me at [email protected] or post a message on my message board.
Infoseek
JJJJ
Infoseek is a powerful search engine; unfortunately, it is incredibly slow on the load.  It sorts the results relatively well, and the links have got useful stastistics beneath them.
AltaVista
JJJJ
AltaVista has a far better search engine then Infoseek.  Unfortunately, this is offset by the fact that it has no idea how to sort the results it gets from the searches.  Thus, it couldn't surpass Infoseek's rating, only tie it.
Yahoo!
JJJ
Yahoo! is the best about organizing its findings.  It even rates the pages, giving you only the best.  All this would be fine and dandy, except that it rarely figures out exactly what you're looking for.  Plus, it only shows a certain number of links, making it even harder to find what you're looking for.
WebCrawler
JJ
WebCrawler is a great example of what not to do with a browser.  It is loaded with ads and cannot find what you're looking for at all.

Software
Software is obviously the driving force behind your computer.  If you have any other great software related sites, please e-mail me at [email protected] or post a message on my message board.  Sites are rated with Js, with 1 J the lowest and 5 Js the highest ratings I give.  These sites are sites for software, not the homepages of software developers themselves.  They are listed in the reviews section, or, if you're looking for internet software, go to internet stuff.
SoftSeek
JJJJJ
Softseek is the ultimate source of freeware, shareware, x- number of day trials, and demos.  They update their top picks every business day, offer links to downloads and short reviews for all programs.  Coupled with a powerful search engine, this is the ultimate example of a great site.
ZDNet
JJJJ
Updates its top picks monthly, great source, all from the ultimate source of computer magazines.

Internet related stuff
This category covers internet browsers and service providers.  If you've got any I should know about, e-mail me at [email protected] or post a message on my bulletin board.
Browsers
Netscape
JJJJJ
I strongly support Netscape.  It is the best package of browser material that I know of.  It includes instant messaging, e-mail, browser, and web page editor.
Internet Explorer
JJJJ
This is the most widely supported internet browser, as it's made by Microsoft
Service Providers
In order of ratings from PC Computing

Cheat Codes
Cheat codes are lines of code that are written into the software's program that allow special things to happen.  No further description is necessary.  Once again, the links are followed by Js to indicate their worthiness and their completeness.  I've reviewed these sites extensively, and believe them to be the best for the platforms listed.  If you have other sites I should review, e-mail me at [email protected] or post a message on my message board.
Computer:Adrenalin Vault
JJJJJ
Adrenalin Vault is the best store of cheat codes for almost any platform under the sun.  They have cheats, hacks, easter eggs, and special tutor levels available, plus reviews for almost every computer game.
N64: IGN64.COM
JJJJJ
Same as Adrenalin Vault, except for the N64.
Other Platforms (Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn) : IGN.COM
JJJJ
Foster of IGN64.COM, covers Playstation and Saturn.
GameShark Codes
JJJ
Lousy site, but necessary for those of you hooked to your GameSharks
